Shea Butter
Shea butter
Plant butter — the nourishing care that helps preserve the comfort and suppleness of the skin
Common name: Shea butter
INCI name: Butyrospermum Parkii Butter
Where it comes from
Shea butter is of plant origin. It is obtained from the nuts of the shea, a tree found mainly across regions of Africa.
After extraction and purification, the resulting butter is used in cosmetics for its nourishing, emollient and protective properties.

How does it work on the skin?
Picture the skin as having a thin protective layer that helps it retain what it needs.
When this protection is weakened, the skin can lose its comfort more easily and become dry, rough or uncomfortable.
Shea butter forms a supple film on the surface of the skin that helps limit water loss and maintain a soft skin feel.
Its lipid components also help nourish and soften the skin, giving it a more supple and comfortable appearance.

Which skin types?
Shea butter is particularly suited to:
- Dry skin : helps nourish the skin and improve its comfort.
- Very dry skin : helps limit the feeling of tightness and dryness.
- Dehydrated skin : helps preserve the skin's hydration.
- Weakened skin : supports the skin's protective barrier.
- Rough skin : helps restore softer, more supple skin.
It can also be used in care products for the body, hands, dry areas and hair, depending on the formulation it is used in.
