My skin concern

Quintos: dark knuckles and elbows

"Quinto" is the local name for darker areas on the knuckles, finger joints and elbows. There, the skin is thicker, folded and exposed to friction, so it darkens faster than the rest of the body. It is very common and not a sign of poor care.

Our advice

The right habits

  1. Apply your care with fingers unfolded to reach the creases of the knuckles.
  2. Exfoliate gently and moisturise right after, without scrubbing too hard.
  3. Avoid "strong" lotions: they damage the skin instead of helping it.

See a dermatologist if the dark area comes with itching, thick patches or cracks, or spreads to other skin folds.

Frequently asked questions

Why didn't my old lotions work?

Often because they were applied with folded fingers, or because they irritated the skin.

Does the routine work for elbows?

Yes, the steps are the same for fingers and elbows.

How soon will I see a change?

Skin feels softer within the first weeks; its appearance improves gradually over several weeks.
